Smart Creative Design
Thanks for stopping by!
I'm Fraser Mackenzie, a graphic designer, web designer and front-end developer, based in sunny Winnipeg, Canada.
I love creating elegant, engaging designs for the web or print that help my clients reach their goals. Let me show you what I can do for you!
Who I Am
About me.
I'm Fraser Mackenzie. I run a one-man web design & front-end development and print design studio in sunny Winnipeg, Canada. I love what I do and working with clients who understand that good design is good business.
What I do
I design and hand-code websites, design for print, do identity design, website consulting, dabble in photography—and more—for people and organizations large and small and as a sub-contractor to other design firms. I work on a Mac, though am well-versed on the PC side of things, and use the Adobe Creative Suite as my main tools of the trade. I'm meticulous and detail-oriented in my work and take deep personal satisfaction in helping my clients reach their goals.
Background
I graduated from the University of Manitoba with a BA in Film Studies. I then briefly studied film production before discovering and falling in love with the world of graphic design and web design, and haven't looked back since I started designing for the web in 2000.
Miscellanea
I'm 30-something, happily married, considered "dad" by a mini-schnauzer, a guitarist, obsessed with The Beatles, a geek for the original Star Wars, a lover of the great outdoors, and have been known to enjoy a well-brewed beer, or two.
Testimonials
I am extremely happy with the services Fraser has provided Lilac Bakery. Starting a new business, I wanted branding that would communicate traditional baking set in a modern retail environment. Fraser nailed it! Our logo, website, menu, business cards, ads, and food photography perfectly capture this feel in a unified way. The feedback has been incredible — customers love our brand and our sales have proven it. I would definitely recommend Fraser Mackenzie Design!!
—Chris Atkinson, Owner
Lilac Bakery
Working with Fraser on brochures and website development has been a real pleasure. He effectively was able to solve every problem I brought to him, and in each instance took the time to explain to me what was wrong and explore the solutions. I always felt he was working with me to help educate me about the situation—he was never the tech guy who talked down or above me, and that extra effort made a world of difference.
—Dennis Trochim, Manager
Manitoba Liberal Party
Fraser Mackenzie Design came highly recommended and has a very respectable portfolio to show for it. Fraser took the time to understand our intended goals and creative expectations and the result was a clean, functional and effective website. We are pleased to recommend without reservation Fraser Mackenzie Design and look forward to working together again soon.
—Mark Olson, President
Landstar Development Corporation
It's been great working with Fraser Mackenzie Design on both my company's website as well as the official website for our film Passenger Side. In both instances, Fraser was able to come up with thoughtfully designed, scaleable concepts that met my needs and, in the end, exceeded all expectations.

Fraser was recommended to us for a web project we had involving updating our website and setting up a large online survey, and we're very glad that he was. He was flexible in accommodating our very tight timeframe, provided excellent solutions, suggestions and support, was meticulous in his work and extremely easy to work with. I highly recommend his services and look forward to working with him again in the future.

Lilac Bakery
Lilac Bakery hired me to design a complete identity package for their new dessert bakery business. The logo communicates their modern approach to traditional dessert baking, while the colours evoke sweetness (chocolate w/pink icing). The mark above the "i" represents a lilac flower and a dash of icing. I also photographed their desserts for use in marketing materials and in-store artwork.

The site is a tool for the "collaboration of researchers interested in the role of affect in culture and in lived experience". The main visual goals were to communicate "a serious exploration of a nebulous topic" and to utilize a pencil art sketch chosen by the Affect group to represent emotional "affect".
